Georgios Simiriotis

Simiriotis was one of the 17 athletes who started the inaugural Olympic marathon race on April 10, 1896. The race, which followed the legendary route from Marathon to Athens, covered a distance of approximately 40 kilometers. Simiriotis, like many other competitors, did not manage to complete the demanding course. He was among the seven runners who failed to finish the race (DNF), which was ultimately won by fellow Greek athlete Spyridon Louis.

While not achieving a medal, Simiriotis's participation marks him as one of the pioneers of modern Olympic sports and a part of the historic first modern Olympic Games. His exact birth and death dates are not widely documented.
