Georgi Dzhioyev

Georgi Rostomovich Dzhioyev (Russian: Георгий Ростомович Джиоев; born 6 May 1986) is a Russian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back.

Early Life and Background

Dzhioyev was born in Tskhinvali, which was then part of the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast within the Georgian SSR of the Soviet Union. He began his youth football career in the Russian football system.

Club Career

Dzhioyev has had a career spanning various clubs across the Russian football league system, primarily playing in defensive roles. He is known for his sturdy presence as a centre-back.

His professional career began in the early 2000s, and he made his debut in the Russian Premier League with FC Anzhi Makhachkala. Over the years, he has played for several prominent Russian clubs, including:

  • FC Spartak Vladikavkaz: Dzhioyev had multiple stints with Spartak Vladikavkaz (formerly Alania Vladikavkaz), including in 2004-2006 and later in 2011-2012.
  • FC Anzhi Makhachkala: He played for Anzhi from 2007 to 2009, during which time he gained experience in the top tier of Russian football.
  • FC Amkar Perm: From 2012 to 2015, Dzhioyev was a key defender for Amkar Perm, making significant appearances in the Russian Premier League.
  • FC Arsenal Tula: He joined Arsenal Tula in 2015 and played for the club until 2017.
  • FC Baltika Kaliningrad: Dzhioyev later moved to Baltika Kaliningrad, where he continued his career.
