Geoffrey Tillotson (1905–1969) was a British literary scholar, critic, and academic, recognized as a leading authority on English literature of the eighteenth century and the history of the novel. He served as Professor of English Literature at Birkbeck College, University of London, from 1947 until his retirement in 1967.
Tillotson's scholarship focused extensively on the works of Alexander Pope, Jonathan Swift, and the development of prose fiction. His notable publications include On the Poetry of Pope (1946), English Poetry at a Glance (1951), and A View of Victorian Literature (1978, published posthumously). He also contributed to the Pelican Guide to English Literature and co-authored works with his wife, the novelist and scholar Kathleen Tillotson (née Kathleen Mary Hughes), whom he married in 1933.
He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy (FBA) in 1958 in recognition of his contributions to literary scholarship.
