Geoff Parsons (athlete)

Geoff Parsons (born 14 August 1964) is a former British track and field athlete who specialised in the high jump. He was a prominent competitor in the late 1980s and early 1990s, known for his consistent performances and for representing Great Britain at the highest levels of the sport.

Career

Parsons enjoyed a distinguished career, representing Great Britain at multiple Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships. His most notable achievements came at the Commonwealth Games, where he won two medals.

At the 1990 Commonwealth Games held in Auckland, New Zealand, Parsons secured the gold medal in the men's high jump, clearing a height of 2.30 metres. Four years later, at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada, he earned a silver medal with a jump of 2.28 metres.

Parsons also competed at the Olympic Games, reaching the final at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where he finished seventh with a jump of 2.34 metres. He also participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Throughout his career, Parsons was a regular fixture on the international high jump circuit and held the British record in the event for a period.
