His first feature-length film, L'ultimo bacio (The Last Kiss, 2001), achieved commercial success and critical acclaim in Italy, winning several David di Donatello awards, including Best Film and Best Director. The film's themes of youthful uncertainty and romantic relationships established Muccino’s reputation for contemporary, character‑driven storytelling.

  • The Family (La famiglia, 2004) – a comedy‑drama exploring intergenerational conflicts.

  • Seven Pounds (2008) – another English‑language collaboration with Smith, focusing on themes of redemption and sacrifice.
  • Asterix at the Olympic Games (2008) – a live‑action adaptation of the popular comic series.
