Géza Dávid Turi (born 6 October 2001) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL League Two side Grimsby Town. Born in Hungary, he represents the Faroe Islands national team.
Early life and background
Turi was born in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary. His father is Géza Turi, a former Hungarian footballer who later became a goalkeeper coach. Turi moved to the Faroe Islands at a young age and came through the youth academy of Víkingur Gøta.
Club career
Turi began his senior career at Víkingur Gøta in 2020. Over five seasons with the club, he made 140 appearances across all competitions, scoring 10 goals. In 2024, he scored 8 league goals and was named Midfielder of the Year in the Faroe Islands Premier League, as well as Player of the Month for March and April. Víkingur won the league title that season.
In January 2025, Turi transferred to English club Grimsby Town for a fee of 700,000 Danish kroner. After completing his visa application, he began training in February 2025 and made his full debut on 11 March 2025 against Notts County.
International career
After obtaining a Faroe Islands passport in 2025, Turi became eligible to represent the Faroe Islands internationally. He was called up to the senior national team in March 2025 for FIFA World Cup qualification matches. He made his debut on 5 September 2025 in a 1–0 loss to Croatia. On 14 November 2025, he scored his first international goal in a 3–1 loss to Croatia.
