The genus Fusciphantes was first described by K. Y. Eskov in 1992.
Diagnostic characteristics
Members of Fusciphantes are small spiders typical of the Linyphiidae, possessing a compact body (generally less than 3 mm in length) and a poorly sclerotized carapace. The genus is distinguished from related taxa by the morphology of the male palpal organ and the female epigyne, which exhibit specific sclerotised structures and copulatory ducts unique to the group. Geographic distribution
Species of Fusciphantes are known from the East Palearctic region, with recorded occurrences in:

The distribution reflects a preference for temperate forest habitats, often in leaf litter or low vegetation layers.

Ecology and behavior
