Friedrich von Logau (1605 – 1655) was a German poet of the Baroque period, renowned for his epigrams and moralistic poetry, often compiled under the title Sinngedichte (Meaning Poems).

Overview
Born on 23 March 1605 in Groß-Glogau, Silesia (now Głogów, Poland), Logau was a member of the Silesian nobility. He studied law at the University of Leipzig and later at the University of Jena, after which he entered the service of the Imperial court in Vienna. His literary activity flourished during the Thirty Years' War, a period that profoundly influenced his themes of transience, folly, and the critique of social mores. In 1637 he published his first collection of epigrams, Sinngedichte, which achieved considerable popularity and went through several editions during his lifetime. Logau died on 12 June 1655 in Vienna.
