Route description
- Western terminus: The highway begins at the Alabama–Florida border, where it continues from Alabama State Route 20.
- Alignment: Throughout the Panhandle, SR 30 follows the alignment of US 98, passing through or near Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Niceville, and other coastal towns. In addition to its coastal alignment, the route traverses inland sections near Tallahassee where it merges with US 27 and other state‑road designations.
- Eastern terminus: The signed portion of SR 30 ends near the junction with US 19 in the vicinity of Apalachicola. Beyond this point, US 98 continues toward the southern portion of the state, but the SR 30 designation is generally not applied.
