Fletcher Tabuteau (born 1971) is a New Zealand politician and former Member of Parliament. He represented the New Zealand First party as a list MP from the 2014 general election until the 2020 general election, when his party failed to reach the 5% threshold for parliamentary representation.
Born in Rotorua, Tabuteau has a background in education and economics. Prior to entering politics, he worked as a senior lecturer in economics at Waiariki Institute of Technology (now Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology) in Rotorua. He also served as the head of the School of Business at the institution.
Tabuteau first stood for Parliament in the Rotorua electorate in the 2011 general election, coming third. In the 2014 general election, he was placed third on New Zealand First's party list and successfully entered Parliament as a list MP. He was re-elected in 2017.
Following the 2017 general election, New Zealand First formed a coalition government with the Labour Party, supported by the Green Party. In this government, Tabuteau was appointed as the Under-Secretary for Regional Economic Development, assisting Minister Shane Jones. In this role, he was involved in the implementation of the Provincial Growth Fund, a key policy initiative aimed at investing in regional New Zealand.
He served as a spokesperson for New Zealand First on various portfolios, including finance, economic development, and revenue. Tabuteau was known for his advocacy for regional development and for policies aimed at strengthening New Zealand's economic sovereignty.
Tabuteau lost his seat in the 2020 general election when New Zealand First did not secure enough party votes to return to Parliament. After leaving politics, he returned to the education sector, continuing his work in tertiary education.
