Flashpoint Productions, Inc. was a video game developer based in Olympia, Washington, founded in 1992 by Brent Erickson. It was acquired by Bethesda Softworks in July 1995 and rebranded as Media Technology West (also referred to as MediaTech West or Bethesda West).
History
The company was founded by Brent Erickson in Utah in 1992. In July 1994, it relocated from Utah to Lacey, Washington, at which time it employed 18 people. Prior to its focus on video games, the firm produced musical scores used in network broadcast news shows and Entertainment Tonight.
Bethesda Softworks acquired Flashpoint Productions in July 1995 and rebranded it as Media Technology West. Following the acquisition, founder Brent Erickson became Bethesda's development director. Under Bethesda, the studio developed the IHRA Drag Racing series of games.
The company's exact date of dissolution is unknown.
