Flag of Chuvashia

The Flag of Chuvashia is the official regional flag of the Chuvash Republic, a federal subject of the Russian Federation. It was adopted on April 25, 1992, and confirmed by the Law of the Chuvash Republic on June 26, 1992.

The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width: the top stripe is white, the middle stripe is red, and the bottom stripe is green. Centered on the flag is a traditional Chuvash solar symbol, known as the "Tree of Life" or "Sun Sign," rendered in gold. This symbol combines circular and spiral motifs that represent the sun, eternity, and ancestral heritage in Chuvash culture.

The colors carry symbolic meanings: white stands for peace and openness, red represents courage and the historical struggles of the Chuvash people, and green symbolizes nature, fertility, and the land. The golden emblem reflects spiritual values and national identity.

The design reflects both the cultural uniqueness of the Chuvash people—an ethnic group of Turkic origin—and their status as part of the Russian Federation. The flag is regulated by regional legislation and is used on official buildings and during public events within the Chuvash Republic.
