The First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, Connecticut, is a historic Baptist congregation located at 128 Clinton Avenue in the city's West Side neighborhood. Organized in 1830, it is one of the oldest Baptist churches in the state. The church is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA.
The current church building, completed in 1892, is a significant architectural landmark. It was designed by prominent local architect Warren R. Briggs in the Richardsonian Romanesque style, characterized by its robust stone construction, round arches, and often asymmetrical massing. Key features include its large stained-glass windows and prominent corner tower.
Due to its architectural significance and historical role within the community, the church building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The congregation continues to serve the spiritual needs of its members and engage in community outreach from its historic location.
