Faruk Ihtijarević

Faruk Ihtijarević (born 1 May 1969) is a Bosnian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He is most notably recognized for his extensive career with FK Sarajevo and for representing the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Club Career

Ihtijarević began his professional career with NK Jedinstvo Bihać before making a significant move to FK Sarajevo. His time at Sarajevo, spanning several periods including the challenging years during and after the Bosnian War, solidified his reputation as a key midfielder for the club. He made numerous appearances and was an important figure in the team's midfield.

Throughout his career, Ihtijarević also had stints abroad. He played in the Israeli Premier League for Hapoel Petah Tikva and Hapoel Ironi Rishon LeZion. Later, he moved to Switzerland to play for FC Wil. Towards the latter part of his career, he returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina, playing for FK Olimpik Sarajevo before retiring.

International Career

Faruk Ihtijarević earned multiple caps for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team. He made his debut during the early years of the newly formed national team, participating in friendly matches and qualifying campaigns. His international career spanned from 1996 to 1999, during which he made 6 appearances for his country.
