Faiq Bağırov is an Azerbaijani name shared by at least two notable individuals: a former diplomat and a former Olympic athlete.
1. Faiq Bağırov (diplomat)
Faiq Bağırov (born 13 November 1962 in Baku) is an Azerbaijani diplomat and former government official. He graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Baku State University in 1982. He served as Azerbaijan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Arab Republic of Egypt (2005–2010) and concurrently as Permanent Observer to the League of Arab States. He subsequently served as Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey (2010–2017). In 2018, he was appointed Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
In July 2020, Bağırov was detained by the State Security Service (DTX) of Azerbaijan. The Sabail District Court ordered a four-month pre-trial detention on charges under Articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement on a large scale), 308.1 (abuse of official powers), and 311.3.2 (receiving a bribe on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
2. Faiq Bağırov (athlete)
Faiq Bağırov (born 3 February 1976) is an Azerbaijani middle-distance runner. He represented Azerbaijan at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, competing in the men's 800 metres event. He recorded a time of 1:58.40 in the heats, finishing 8th in his heat and not advancing to the next round. His personal best in the 800 metres is 1:47.16, set in Moscow in June 2000. He also competed in the 400 metres, with a personal best of 51.47 set in Cheboksary in 2009.
