Félix Carnero

Félix Carnero González (born June 1, 1948) is a Spanish former professional football player and sporting director, primarily recognized for his extensive tenure with the Spanish club Real Club Celta de Vigo.

Playing Career Born in Vigo, Galicia, Carnero operated as a midfielder during his professional career. He began his career in the late 1960s, debuting for Celta de Vigo. He also spent a significant period with CD Castellón before returning to Celta, where he eventually retired from active play. Throughout his career, he represented his clubs in both the Segunda División and La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football.

Administrative Career Following his retirement as a player, Carnero transitioned into technical and administrative roles. He is most noted for his service as the sporting director of Celta de Vigo during the late 1990s and early 2000s. This period, often referred to as the "EuroCelta" era, saw the club achieve high league finishes and consistent qualification for European competitions, including the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Champions League. Carnero was instrumental in the recruitment of several high-profile international players who defined this successful period in the club's history.

In later years, Carnero served as a sporting director for Cádiz CF and continued to be involved in the organizational aspects of Spanish football. He remains a prominent figure in the history of Celta de Vigo and Galician sports.
