Eusebius Politylo (born February 3, 1941) is a Canadian prelate of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. He served as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg from 1986 to 2000, holding the titular see of Hodelm.
Biography
Eusebius Politylo was born on February 3, 1941, in Sanok, then part of Poland (now in modern-day Poland). His family later emigrated to Canada. He pursued his theological studies and was ordained a priest for the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg on March 25, 1965.Throughout his priestly ministry, Father Politylo served in various pastoral assignments and administrative roles within the Archeparchy, contributing to the spiritual and community life of the Ukrainian Catholic faithful in Canada.
Episcopal Ministry
On December 6, 1986, Pope John Paul II appointed Eusebius Politylo as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg. Concurrently, he was assigned the titular see of Hodelm. He received his episcopal consecration on January 8, 1987.As Auxiliary Bishop, Bishop Politylo assisted the Metropolitan Archbishop of Winnipeg in the pastoral and administrative oversight of the archeparchy, which serves Ukrainian Catholics in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and parts of Ontario. He held this position for over a decade until his resignation was accepted by Pope John Paul II on September 22, 2000.
