The species was formally described by the Austrian entomologist Stephan von Breuning in 1938.
Distribution
Records of Eunidia discobivittata are primarily from East Africa. Specimen data in major entomological collections indicate occurrences in Kenya and Tanzania, although the full extent of its range has not been comprehensively mapped.
Morphology
As with other members of the genus Eunidia, this beetle possesses the elongated body and long antennae characteristic of longhorn beetles (family Cerambycidae). The specific epithet “discobivittata” suggests the presence of two transverse (bivittate) bands on the elytra, a feature noted in the original description.
Habitat and Ecology
Detailed ecological information for E. discobivittata is lacking in the published literature. Members of the genus are generally associated with woody plants, where larvae develop within dead or dying wood, but species‑specific host preferences for E. discobivittata have not been documented.
