Her life takes an unexpected turn when she travels to the United States to find her older sister, only to discover her sister's true circumstances. During her time in the U.S., she has a chance encounter with Kim Tan, the illegitimate son of a wealthy conglomerate chairman, who is studying abroad.
Upon her return to Korea, Eun-sang finds herself enrolled in Jeguk High School, an elite school for the privileged elite, through a scholarship provided by Kim Tan's family. Her presence at the school, where she is one of the few students from a lower socio-economic status, highlights the stark class disparities and creates significant tension.
Role in the Plot
Eun-sang serves as the central figure around whom the romantic and social conflicts of the drama revolve. She becomes the love interest of both Kim Tan and his former best friend and rival, Choi Young-do. Her character embodies themes of social inequality, perseverance, and the struggle for identity and acceptance within a highly stratified society. Despite facing bullying and discrimination from her wealthy peers, she maintains her integrity and strong moral compass. Her interactions with the male leads drive much of the narrative, as they grapple with their feelings for her while navigating the expectations and pressures of their privileged world.
