Esai Morales (born October 13, 1962) is an American actor, producer, director, and activist. He was born in New York City, New York, to a family of Puerto Rican descent. Morales began his acting career in the early 1980s, gaining prominence with his role as Angel in the 1985 film Bad Boys and as a member of the guerrilla group in the 1988 drama The Milagro Beanfield War.
He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of the villainous Lieutenant Martin Castillo in the television series La Femme Nikita (1997–2001) and for his recurring role as Lieutenant Colonel William "Bill" Nichols in the military drama SeaQuest DSV (1994–1996). Morales also appeared in Young Guns (1988), Mickey Blue Eyes (1999), and the series Charmed (2002). In addition to his on-screen work, he has been involved in several stage productions and independent films.
Beyond acting, Morales is an advocate for Latino representation in the entertainment industry and has participated in various charitable initiatives, including organizations focused on education and health care for underserved communities. He has also served as a producer and director on several projects, contributing to both mainstream and independent cinema.
