Emily Armstrong (born May 6, 1986) is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She is the co-founder and lead vocalist of the rock band Dead Sara and was announced as a co-lead vocalist for the band Linkin Park in 2024.
Career with Dead Sara Armstrong began writing music and playing guitar at age 11 and started singing at 15. In 2005, she and guitarist Siouxsie Medley formed the band Dead Sara (originally called Epiphany). The band released their debut self-titled album in 2012, which featured the single "Weatherman." The track received significant attention in the rock community and was named "Song of the Year" by Loudwire. Under Armstrong’s leadership, Dead Sara released subsequent albums including Pleasure to Meet You (2015) and Ain't It Tragic (2021).
Linkin Park On September 5, 2024, Linkin Park announced Armstrong as a new co-lead vocalist during a live-streamed performance. This marked the band's first major activity with a new permanent vocalist following the death of Chester Bennington in 2017. Armstrong contributed vocals to the lead single "The Emptiness Machine" and the studio album From Zero. Her addition to the lineup was accompanied by the announcement of a world tour.
Musical Style and Contributions Armstrong is recognized for a vocal style that incorporates both melodic singing and aggressive rock techniques, such as screaming. Her performances have been compared to those of classic rock and grunge vocalists. In addition to her work with Dead Sara and Linkin Park, Armstrong has contributed backing vocals and songwriting to various projects, including work with Courtney Love and Demi Lovato.
