Emanuel Brítez (born March 26, 1992) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a right-back or centre-back. Known for his defensive versatility and tenacious play, he has spent the majority of his career in Argentine football, with a brief spell in Brazil.
Career
Brítez began his professional career with Unión de Santa Fe, joining their youth academy and making his senior debut in 2012. He quickly established himself as a key defensive player for the club, known for his robust tackling and commitment.Throughout his career, Brítez has had several stints with Unión, interspersed with loan spells and transfers to other prominent Argentine clubs:
- Independiente: In 2017, he joined Club Atlético Independiente on loan, where he participated in their Copa Sudamericana-winning campaign, though he left before the final stages of the competition.
- Defensa y Justicia: Following his time at Independiente, he had a loan spell at Defensa y Justicia in 2018.
- Rosario Central: He moved to Rosario Central in 2019, where he continued to be a regular starter.
- Argentinos Juniors: In 2022, Brítez joined Argentinos Juniors, playing a significant role in their defensive setup.
- Fortaleza: Later in 2022, he ventured abroad for the first time, joining Brazilian Série A club Fortaleza. He played for the Brazilian side for one season before returning to Argentina.
- Unión de Santa Fe: Brítez rejoined his boyhood club, Unión, for a third spell in 2024, continuing to be a prominent figure in their defence.
