Elkland was an American synth-pop and new wave band from Horseheads, New York, active from 2003 to 2006.
Background and Formation
The band was originally named Goat Explosion before adopting the name Elkland, taken from the nearby town of Elkland, Pennsylvania. Elkland was signed to Columbia Records, a division of Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

Career
From April to June 2005, Elkland served as the opening act for all concerts on Erasure's North American tour. The band's debut and only album, Golden, was released in 2005. AllMusic described the album as "a stylish cast of '80s new wave and post-millennium modern rock," while Cryptic Rock called it "a rare new wave/synthpop gem." The album's lead single was "Apart."
In May 2006, Elkland disbanded. According to singer Jonathan Pierce, the split was amicable.
Post-Elkland
Following the band's dissolution, frontman Jonathan Pierce formed the indie pop and surf rock band The Drums with former Goat Explosion bandmate Jacob Graham. The Drums' self-titled debut album was released in 2010.
