Elena Alistar

Elena Alistar (born 8 June 1975) is a Moldovan politician and former journalist. She served as a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova from 2009 to 2014, representing the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM). During her parliamentary tenure, Alistar was a member of the Committee on Social Protection, Health and Family, and participated in legislative initiatives related to health policy and social welfare.

Early life and education
Alistar was born in the city of Căușeni, Moldavian SSR, Soviet Union (present-day Moldova). She graduated from the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Nicolae Testemițanu" in Chișinău, earning a degree in medicine. She later pursued studies in journalism, obtaining a qualification in mass communication.

Career
Prior to entering politics, Alistar worked as a journalist for several Moldovan media outlets, focusing on health and social issues. Her background in medicine and journalism informed her legislative interests, particularly in the domains of public health, health care reform, and social protection.

In the 2009 parliamentary elections, Alistar was elected to the Moldovan Parliament on the Democratic Party of Moldova ticket. She was re‑elected in the subsequent 2010 elections and served until the end of her term in 2014. While in Parliament, she contributed to the drafting and review of legislation concerning the organization of the health system, patient rights, and the regulation of medical services.

Later activities
After leaving the Parliament, Alistar continued her involvement in public affairs, engaging in consultancy and advocacy related to health policy. She has participated in conferences and public discussions on health system modernization in Moldova.

Personal life
Alistar is married and has children. She is known for her advocacy of women's participation in politics and public life.
