Eleanor Glencross

Early Life and Background

Eleanor Glencross was born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. She was diagnosed with osteochondroma, a condition characterized by the benign growth of cartilage and bone. Glencross began competitive swimming at approximately 12 years of age.

Career

Glencross made her international debut for the Australian Dolphins national team at the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. At these championships, she secured a bronze medal in the Women's 100m Backstroke S10 event.

Her success at the World Championships led to her selection for the Australian team competing at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the Rio Paralympics, Glencross competed in multiple events:

  • Women's 100m Backstroke S10 (finished 5th)
  • Women's 100m Freestyle S10
  • Women's 400m Freestyle S10
  • Women's 200m Individual Medley SM10
  • Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay (34 points)
  • Women's 4x100m Medley Relay (34 points)

She was coached by Gennadiy Labara during her prominent international career.
