The Edward Steves Homestead is a historic house museum located in the King William Historic District of San Antonio, Texas. Constructed in 1876, the residence was built for Edward Steves, a prominent German immigrant and the founder of the Steves Lumber Company.
The structure was designed by architect Alfred Giles in the French Second Empire style. It is characterized by its concave mansard roof and its construction from dressed ashlar limestone. The property originally encompassed several lots and includes outbuildings such as a carriage house and a natatorium, which was a rare feature for a private residence in the late 19th century.
In 1952, the homestead was donated to the San Antonio Conservation Society by the Steves family. Since that time, the organization has operated the site as a museum, preserving the architecture and showcasing 19th-century Victorian furnishings. The Edward Steves Homestead is a contributing property to the King William Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
