Early Life and Career
Born in Manchester, England, in 1866, Boulden immigrated to Canada in 1883. He eventually settled in Manitoba in 1886, establishing himself as a farmer and later engaging in various business ventures. In 1891, he married Isabella McKenzie, with whom he had six children. Prior to his provincial political career, Boulden was active in local governance, serving as a municipal councillor and a school trustee in his community.
Political Career
Boulden was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba in the 1914 provincial election. Running as a Liberal candidate, he represented the electoral district of Cypress, defeating the incumbent Conservative, George Steel. During his term, he was part of the Liberal government led by Premier Tobias Norris. He sought re-election in the 1920 provincial election but was defeated by William Henry Spinks, the candidate for the United Farmers of Manitoba.
Later Life and Death
After his defeat in the 1920 election, Boulden retired from provincial politics and returned to his private life and business interests. He passed away on December 11, 1934, at the age of 68.
