Edina Markó

Edina Markó (born May 6, 1973) is a Hungarian football manager and former player who is best known for her long-term involvement with the Hungary women's national football team.

Early Career and Playing Years Markó spent much of her playing career as a midfielder. She was a prominent figure at Viktória FC Szombathely, one of the leading clubs in Hungarian women’s football. During her time as an active athlete, she also represented the Hungary women's national team at the international level.

Coaching Career Markó transitioned into coaching and sports management following her retirement from active play. In 2014, she was appointed head coach of the Hungary women's national team. During her tenure, which lasted until 2020, she oversaw the team’s participation in various international qualifying campaigns for the UEFA Women's Championship and the FIFA Women's World Cup.

Under her leadership, the national team also competed in several invitational tournaments, such as the Cyprus Cup. Markó is credited with overseeing a period of structural development within the national program, aiming to increase the competitiveness of Hungarian women's football on the European stage.

Resignation In late 2020, Markó resigned from her position as head coach of the national team. Her departure marked the end of a significant era for the squad, as she was one of the longest-serving coaches in the history of the Hungarian women's national program. Following her resignation, she has remained active in the development of women's sports in Hungary.
