Eddie Lam Yu-sing (Chinese: 林宇星; born 6 March 1992 in Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong pro-Beijing political figure. He is the former deputy executive of the Civil Force political party in Hong Kong, and currently serves as spokesperson and Vice-Chairperson of the New Territories Youth Federation. He is also a member of the New People's Party (NPP).
Background
Lam was born on 6 March 1992 in British Hong Kong. He studied at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He previously worked at the China News Service. In October 2016, he was awarded the Secretary of Home Affairs Youth Recognition Scheme.
Political career
Lam is affiliated with the Civil Force and the New People's Party, both part of the pro-Beijing camp in Hong Kong. He serves as a spokesperson for Civil Force and as Vice-Chairperson of the New Territories Youth Federation. He also holds the position of Vice-Chairman of Shatin West Residents Association.
In the 2019 Hong Kong District Council elections, Lam contested the Chui Ka constituency in Sha Tin District as a Civil Force (NPP) candidate. He received 3,385 votes (40.92%), losing to pro-democracy independent candidate Li Sai-hung, who won 4,854 votes (58.68%). The Civil Force/NPP alliance fielded 28 candidates in that election and did not win any seats, resulting in Civil Force being eliminated from all district councils for the first time since its establishment.
In 2020, Lam and party ally Victor Chan sought to enter the 2020 Hong Kong legislative election, participating in the NPP primary for the New Territories East constituency.
