Edward "Eddie" Boland (17 November 1928 – 20 January 2011) was an Irish Labour Party politician who served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin Rathmines West constituency from 1973 to 1977. He also notably served as the Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1974 to 1975.
Boland was born in Dublin and worked as an accountant before entering national politics. His political career began at the local level, where he was elected to Dublin Corporation (now Dublin City Council) in 1967, representing the Ballyfermot area. He remained a member of the Corporation until 1985.
He was first elected to Dáil Éireann at the 1973 general election, securing a seat for the Labour Party in the Dublin Rathmines West constituency. During his term as a TD, he was a vocal advocate for urban development, social housing, and public services within Dublin. While serving in the Dáil, he was also chosen by his colleagues on Dublin Corporation to be Lord Mayor of Dublin, a prestigious civic role.
Boland lost his Dáil seat at the 1977 general election and was unsuccessful in his attempts to regain it in subsequent elections, including the 1981 and February 1982 general elections, where he contested the Dublin South-West constituency. Despite this, he remained an active figure in the Labour Party and local Dublin politics for many years.
He passed away on 20 January 2011, at the age of 82.
