Earlham Institute

The Earlham Institute (EI) is a research institute based in Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom. Established in 2014, it is situated on the Norwich Research Park and operates as a BBSRC‑funded centre dedicated to data‑intensive life‑science research, with particular emphasis on genomics, bioinformatics and the development of computational tools for the analysis of biological data.

The institute collaborates closely with the University of East Anglia, the Quadram Institute and other partners within the Norwich Research Park, providing both fundamental research and service‑oriented capabilities to the wider scientific community. Its research portfolio encompasses plant, animal, microbial and human genomics, as well as the creation of software, databases and analytical pipelines to support large‑scale data generation and interpretation.

The Earlham Institute also engages in training and outreach activities, offering workshops, fellowships and resources aimed at enhancing expertise in genomic technologies and data science across academia and industry.
