E. P. Gopalan

E. P. Gopalan (1912–2001) was an Indian politician and a prominent leader of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in Kerala. He was an active participant in the Indian independence movement and played a significant role in the organized labor and peasant movements in the Malabar region.

Gopalan served as a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly (MLA) multiple times. He was elected to the 1st Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1957 representing the Perinthalmanna constituency. He later served in the 3rd Kerala Legislative Assembly (1967–1970), representing the Ottappalam constituency. During his tenure, he was involved in various legislative committees and contributed to discussions regarding land reforms and agricultural development in the state.

Beyond his legislative career, Gopalan held several organizational roles within the Communist Party and served as the Chairman of the Kerala Agro Industries Corporation. His political work was characterized by an emphasis on the rights of farmers and industrial workers. He died on November 1, 2001.
