Dudley E. Faver

Dudley E. Faver (1915–2010) was a major general in the United States Air Force who served in significant administrative and leadership capacities during the mid-20th century. His career was primarily defined by his contributions to personnel management and financial operations within the military.

Early Life and Education Faver was born on November 24, 1915, in Sweetwater, Texas. He attended Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). He graduated in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Military Career Faver began his active military service in 1941. During World War II, he served in various administrative roles, including assignments in the China-Burma-India Theater. Following the war, he transitioned into the newly established United States Air Force in 1947.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Faver held a series of high-level staff and command positions. He became known for his expertise in personnel planning and military finance. Notable assignments included:

  • Air Force Accounting and Finance Center: Faver served as the commander of this center, located in Denver, Colorado, where he oversaw the complex financial systems and payroll distributions for the global Air Force population.
  • Headquarters U.S. Air Force: He served as the Director of Personnel Planning at the Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C. In this role, he was responsible for developing policies regarding the recruitment, retention, and career progression of Air Force personnel.

He reached the rank of major general on August 1, 1967. He retired from active duty in 1970.
