History
The earliest known written record mentioning Dubičné dates back to the year 1379. Historically, the village and its surrounding lands were part of the extensive feudal domain of Třeboň, playing a role in the agricultural and economic life of that estate. Like many small settlements in the region, its development was closely linked to local farming practices and the broader historical events affecting Bohemia.
Etymology
The name "Dubičné" is derived from the Czech word "dub," which means "oak tree." This etymology suggests that the area was historically characterized by the presence of oak forests or a significant oak tree, from which the settlement likely took its name.
