Drew Romo (born August 15, 2001) is an American professional baseball catcher in the Colorado Rockies organization. He was selected by the Rockies as the 35th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 Major League Baseball draft.
Romo attended The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas, where he was a highly regarded prospect known for his exceptional defensive skills behind the plate, particularly his arm strength and receiving ability. He committed to play college baseball for Louisiana State University (LSU) before being drafted.
After being drafted, Romo began his professional career in the Rockies' minor league system. He made his professional debut in 2021 with the Low-A Fresno Grizzlies and later that season was promoted to the High-A Spokane Indians. In 2022, he played for the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats, continuing to develop his offensive game while maintaining his strong defensive reputation. He progressed to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes in subsequent seasons, consistently ranking among the Rockies' top prospects. Romo is primarily known for his defensive prowess, framing, and ability to control the running game.
