Dražica, Borovnica

Dražica is a small settlement in the Municipality of Borovnica in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. It lies northwest of the town of Borovnica, situated on the slopes below the western edge of the Borovnica Valley (Borovniško polje).

Geography The settlement is dispersed, consisting of several farms and houses spread across the hilly terrain. The soil is predominantly loamy and clayey, with limestone bedrock characteristic of the region. The area is partially forested, with agricultural land used for pastures and fields.

History Historically, Dražica was a rural farming community. During the Second World War, the area around Borovnica was significant due to the presence of the Borovnica Viaduct (part of the Southern Railway), and the surrounding settlements, including Dražica, experienced the effects of wartime conflict and post-war reconstruction.

Population As a small rural settlement, Dražica has a low population count. According to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the population has fluctuated slightly over recent censuses but generally remains under 50 residents.

Infrastructure and Landmarks The settlement is connected by local roads to the main municipal center of Borovnica. There are no major industrial or commercial facilities within Dražica itself; residents typically rely on services in Borovnica. The local landscape features traditional Slovenian farm architecture in some of the older buildings.
