Douglas Ian Farrant (born 2 April 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played at senior level in both the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL).
Born in Cohuna, Victoria, Farrant began his football career with the local Cohuna Football Club before being recruited by North Melbourne. He made his VFL debut in 1968 and played with North Melbourne until 1973, appearing in 70 games and kicking 110 goals. Standing 189 cm tall and weighing 91 kg, he primarily played at full‑forward and was the club’s leading goal‑kicker in his first season, recording 35 goals. He also contributed to North Melbourne’s 1967 reserves premiership as the full‑forward.
In 1974, Farrant transferred to the Perth Football Club in Western Australia, where he continued his senior career in the WANFL. Over six seasons (1974–1979) he played 119 games and scored 181 goals for Perth. His playing statistics are recorded as accurate through the end of the 1979 season.
Farrant’s brother, Gary Farrant, also played Australian rules football at the elite level.
