Donja Kupinovica

Donja Kupinovica is a rural settlement located in the City of Leskovac, within the Jablanica District of southern Serbia. It is situated in the southeastern part of the country, a region characterized by a mixture of lowland and hilly terrain.

The village is administratively categorized as a settlement within the territory of Leskovac. Its name follows a traditional Slavic toponymic convention, where the prefix "Donja" (meaning "Lower") distinguishes it from the nearby settlement of Gornja Kupinovica ("Upper Kupinovica"). The name is derived from the word kupina, the Serbian term for blackberry, suggesting the historical prevalence of the plant in the area.

Demographic data for Donja Kupinovica indicates a trend of population decline, which is consistent with many rural areas in the Balkans. According to the 2002 census, the village had 183 inhabitants. By the 2011 census, the population had decreased to 111 residents. The population is predominantly composed of ethnic Serbs.

The primary economic activities in the settlement are traditionally linked to agriculture and livestock farming, facilitated by the regional climate and soil conditions of the Leskovac basin. The village remains a small, localized community with limited industrial infrastructure.
