Dominik Uher (born 27 June 1995) is a Czech professional ice‑hockey forward. He has played in North American junior and collegiate leagues, the National Hockey League (NHL) organization system, and the Czech Extraliga.
Early life and education
Uher was born in Kladno, Czech Republic. He developed as a youth player in the Czech system before moving to North America to continue his development.
Junior and collegiate career
Uher played two seasons (2012–2014) with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League (USHL). He subsequently enrolled at Boston College, where he was a member of the Boston College Eagles men’s ice‑hockey team from 2014 to 2016. During his NCAA tenure, he recorded 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) in 56 games.
Professional career
Draft and Detroit Red Wings
Uher was selected in the fourth round, 112th overall, by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He signed an entry‑level contract with Detroit in March 2016 and was assigned to the organization’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Chicago Blackhawks
On 30 June 2015, the Red Wings traded Uher’s rights to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a third‑round draft pick. He spent the 2016–2017 season with the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, registering 21 points in 53 games.
Return to the Czech Republic
Following his North American contract, Uher returned to the Czech Republic, signing with HC Dynamo Pardubice of the Czech Extraliga for the 2017–2018 season. He later joined HC Sparta Praha, where he has been a regular forward as of the 2022–2023 season.
International play
Uher represented the Czech Republic at the 2015 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, contributing to the team’s fifth‑place finish.
Playing style
Uher is noted for his size (6 ft 1 in/185 cm) and right‑handed shot. Scouts have described him as a versatile forward capable of contributing in both offensive and defensive situations.
