Authority
The species was originally described by the British entomologist Edward Meyrick in 1913 under the name Trichotaphe albiscripta. It was later transferred to the genus Dichomeris.

Distribution
Dichomeris albiscripta has been recorded in the Afrotropical region, specifically in South Africa. The primary locality information derives from the original description and subsequent entries in regional lepidopteran databases.
Morphology
The original description by Meyrick notes a wingspan of approximately 12–14 mm. The forewings are generally ochreous‑brown with a distinct white longitudinal streak (“albiscripta” meaning “white‑written” or “white‑scripted” in Latin) running from the basal area toward the termen. Hindwings are greyish‑brown. Detailed patterning and genitalia structures, which are important for species identification within Gelechiidae, were illustrated in Meyrick’s 1913 publication.
Habitat
While specific habitat preferences have not been extensively documented, members of the genus Dichomeris are typically associated with woodland and shrubland environments where host plants for their larvae are present. Larval host plants for D. albiscripta have not been definitively recorded.
Life Cycle and Ecology
No comprehensive life‑history studies have been published for this species. As with other gelechiid moths, it is presumed that larvae are leaf‑miners or stem‑borers on certain herbaceous or woody plants, but the exact host range remains undocumented.
