History
Devol was platted in 1907, the same year Oklahoma achieved statehood. A post office was established there that same year. The community was named after Eugene Devol, a local land speculator and businessman who played a role in its early development. Its location in fertile agricultural land near the Red River made it a center for farming and ranching. The [[St. Louis-San Francisco Railway]] once served Devol, contributing to its economic activity by facilitating the transport of agricultural products.Throughout its history, Devol has remained a small, close-knit community. Like many small rural towns, it experienced periods of growth and decline, often tied to agricultural fortunes and broader economic trends.
