Derrek Tsitin Chan (born August 8, 1998) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for New York Cosmos in USL League One. He also represents the Chinese Taipei national team.
Early Life and Youth Career
Chan was born in Cowan Heights, California. He attended Orange Lutheran High School, where he was a three-time team defensive MVP and earned All-Trinity League honors. He played club soccer for West Coast FC, helping the team win titles at the National Cup, the Surf Cup Super Cup, and the Vegas Cup. He also competed for CalSouth ODP, LA Galaxy Academy, Strikers FC Academy, and FC Golden State Academy.
College Career
Chan attended the University of California, Davis from 2017 to 2021, making 16 appearances for the UC Davis Aggies. Fifteen of those appearances came in his final season (2021), where he recorded 45 saves and tallied four shutouts. While in college, he also appeared once for Orange County SC U23 in the USL PDL in 2018.
Professional Career
On March 3, 2022, Chan signed with USL Championship club New York Red Bulls II. He made his professional debut on April 2, 2022, entering as a second-minute substitute after the starting goalkeeper was sent off. He was loaned to Rochester New York FC for a U.S. Open Cup match in May 2022, and later joined Charlotte Independence on a short-term loan in June 2022.
On March 31, 2023, Chan signed with MLS Next Pro club Real Monarchs, making four league appearances. In August 2024, he signed with German Oberliga side Mülheimer FC 97, his first contract in Europe, debuting on October 3, 2024. On December 12, 2025, Chan joined USL League One side New York Cosmos ahead of their return to professional competition. He made his debut for the club on March 28, 2026, recording a clean sheet in a 2–0 victory over Fort Wayne FC.
International Career
Chan was called up to the Chinese Taipei national team for 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification matches in June 2024. He is eligible through his mother, who is from Taiwan; his father is from Hong Kong.
