Dennis Harrison (born December 16, 1956) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons during the 1970s and 1980s.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Harrison played college football for the Vanderbilt Commodores at Vanderbilt University. He was a dominant force on the defensive line during his collegiate career, earning recognition for his size, strength, and athleticism.
Harrison was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round (98th overall) of the 1978 NFL Draft. He quickly established himself as a key component of the Eagles' defense. During his time with the Eagles (1978–1984), he was part of the team that reached Super Bowl XV following the 1980 season, where they ultimately lost to the Oakland Raiders.
After seven seasons with the Eagles, Harrison went on to play for the Los Angeles Rams (1985–1986) and finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers (1987). Throughout his NFL career, he was known for his ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks and stop the run, accumulating 66.5 sacks (a statistic not officially tracked until 1982, so his actual total is higher) and consistently being a formidable presence on the defensive line. He retired after the 1987 season, concluding a decade-long professional career.
