Denis Petukhov

Denis Alekseyevich Petukhov (Russian: Денис Алексеевич Петухов; born 10 October 1978) is a Russian former competitive ice dancer. He is best known for his partnership with Oksana Domnina, with whom he is the 2007 Grand Prix Final silver medalist, a two-time Cup of Russia champion, and a three-time Russian national champion. They competed at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics.

Early Life and Career

Petukhov was born in Moscow, Soviet Union. He began skating at an early age. Early in his career, he skated with Elena Diachenko and Svetlana Kulikova, achieving success on the junior international circuit.

Partnership with Oksana Domnina

Petukhov formed a partnership with Oksana Domnina in May 2002. They were coached primarily by Natalia Linichuk and Gennadi Karponosov, first in Moscow and later at the University of Delaware in the United States.

Their partnership quickly found success, making their Grand Prix debut in the 2003–04 season. Highlights of their competitive career together include:

  • National Success: Domnina and Petukhov became three-time Russian national champions (2005, 2006, 2007) and were two-time silver medalists.
  • Grand Prix Series: They won two gold medals at the Cup of Russia (2006, 2007) and earned multiple other Grand Prix medals, culminating in a silver medal at the 2007–08 Grand Prix Final.
  • European Championships: They won two bronze medals (2008, 2010) and one silver medal (2009) at the European Championships.
  • World Championships: Their best World Championship placements were 4th in 2009 and 5th in both 2007 and 2008.
  • Olympic Appearances: They represented Russia at two Winter Olympics, placing 9th at the 2006 Turin Olympics and 6th at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

Domnina and Petukhov retired from competitive skating after the 2009–10 season.

Post-Competitive Career

Following his retirement from competitive skating, Petukhov has been involved in various ice shows, including "Stars on Ice" and other productions. He has also pursued coaching, sharing his experience with new generations of skaters.
