Demay Point

The feature was first photographed from the air by the U.S. Navy's Operation Highjump during its Antarctic expedition in 1946–47. It was subsequently mapped by French Antarctic Expeditions.

Demay Point was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in honor of J. Demay, a photographer who participated in the French Antarctic Expedition of 1950–52, based at Port Martin. The naming commemorates his work in documenting the Antarctic landscape and scientific activities in the region. It is a minor geographical landmark officially recognized by international naming authorities.
