Description
Deltochilum gibbosum is a species of dung beetle in the scarab subfamily Scarabaeinae. Members of the genus Deltochilum are generally medium‑sized beetles (approximately 8–15 mm in length) with a convex, often strongly sculptured dorsal surface. The specific epithet “gibbosum” refers to a pronounced hump or swelling on the pronotum or elytra, a characteristic used in the original species description. Coloration is typically dark brown to black, sometimes exhibiting iridescent reflections common to many scarabaeines.
Distribution and Habitat
The species is known from the Neotropical region, with confirmed records in Brazil and neighboring South American countries.
