The Deepwater Terminal Railroad was a 4.5-mile terminal railroad off the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in Richmond, Virginia. The line was used to service the Port of Richmond (also known as the Richmond Deepwater Terminal and the Richmond Marine Terminal), which is located on the James River approximately 100 miles inland from Cape Henry.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers oversaw and operated the Deepwater Terminal Railroad. Numerous industries were located along the line, including Peck Recycling, various storage facilities, and the Port of Richmond (Deepwater Terminal).
As of available records, the line remains in use by CSX Transportation to access the port and Sims Metals. A Whitcomb 45-Ton center cab locomotive that formerly operated on the Deepwater Terminal Railroad in Richmond, Virginia, still sees use at Sims Metal America.
