Deanna Nolan

Deanna Nolan (born September 3, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player. She played as a guard in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and represented the United States in international competition.

Early life and education
Nolan was born in Dayton, Ohio, United States. She attended the University of Tennessee, where she played collegiate basketball for the Tennessee Lady Volunteers under head coach Pat Summitt. During her tenure, the Lady Volunteers captured two NCAA Women's Basketball Championships (1998 and 2000).

Professional career
Nolan entered the WNBA after being selected in the second round (19th overall) of the 2001 WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock. She remained with Detroit through the 2009 season, during which the Shock won three league championships (2003, 2006, and 2008). Nolan was named a WNBA All‑Star four times (2003–2005, 2007).

Following the relocation of the Shock franchise to Tulsa, Nolan played for the Tulsa Shock (2010) and was later traded to the Chicago Sky later that same year. She concluded her WNBA career with the Indiana Fever in the 2011 season.

International play
Nolan was a member of the United States women’s national basketball team that won the gold medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women.

Post‑playing activities
After retiring from professional play, Nolan has been involved in basketball coaching, youth development programs, and community outreach initiatives, particularly focusing on mentoring young athletes.

Legacy
Nolan is recognized for her contributions to the Detroit Shock’s championship successes and for her role in expanding the visibility of women’s basketball both domestically and internationally.
