The specific epithet nova‑anglica refers to the New England area of north‑eastern New South Wales where the species occurs.

Description
Daviesia nova‑anglica is an erect to spreading shrub, typically reaching a height of 0.5–2 m. Like other members of the genus, it possesses reduced leaves (phyllodes) that are linear to narrowly lanceolate. The flowers are arranged in racemes or clusters in the leaf axils and display the characteristic pea‑type morphology of Fabaceae, with a standard petal that is yellow‑orange and often marked with red or brown pigmentation. Flowering has been recorded from late winter to early spring (July–September). The fruit is a flattened, woody pod containing several seeds.

Distribution and habitat
The species is known only from the New England Tablelands of northern New South Wales. It grows on sandy or gravelly soils derived from granite and is typically found in open woodland or heathland communities, often associated with other sclerophyllous shrubs.

Conservation status
As of the latest assessments, Daviesia nova‑anglica has not been listed under the Australian Government’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. However, its restricted range has prompted monitoring by the New South Wales Office of Environment and Heritage, and it is considered a species of conservation interest due to habitat specificity.
