David Freeman (footballer)

David Freeman (born 28 November 1969) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. His career spanned primarily across various Football League clubs, most notably Brentford, Peterborough United, and Colchester United.

Career Freeman began his career as a trainee at Arsenal, though he did not make a first-team appearance for the club. He moved to Brentford in 1988, where he established himself as a full-back. Over three seasons with the Bees, he made 65 league appearances, helping them secure promotion to the Second Division in the 1991–92 season.

In 1991, Freeman transferred to Peterborough United. During his tenure at London Road, he was a consistent feature in the defence, contributing to the club's rise through the divisions. He played over 100 league games for Peterborough before moving to Colchester United in 1995.

At Colchester, Freeman continued to be a regular starter, playing an integral role in their defence for two seasons and making 69 league appearances. His subsequent career included spells at Cambridge United, Barnet, and Dover Athletic, before finishing his professional playing days. He later played non-league football for clubs such as Purfleet (now Thurrock F.C.) and Heybridge Swifts.
